A Message From Katy:

Welcome,

First, I want to thank you for taking some time to consider what might be next for you on your healing journey. Sometimes, it can be scary to open ourselves up to therapy and I find it one of the bravest things we can do. There is a calling within us to feel better and I’m here to support that. It’s an honour and privilege to walk alongside all my clients.

I have seven years of clinical experience, including working at family health teams, private practice, leading children and youth mental health agencies, and the school board. I have been grateful to receive direct supervision from experts in the field, like Dr. Michael Ungar who is the author of many children’s therapy books and coined “The Nine Things All Children Need to Be Resilient”. His teachings will forever stay with me as a therapist.

My passion is helping people heal using a holistic approach. I look at the interplay of mind, body and soul and come up with practical and real-life examples of how to integrate some of these complex teachings into everyday life. Helping people learn how to regulate their nervous system and find a state of balance is something I find truly impactful for my clients. I appreciate modalities such as Emotional Freedom Tapping (EFT) and Somatic Body Work.

I am also trained in traditional cognitive therapies including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Attachment Informed Therapy, Trauma-Informed Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. These modalities can really get us to understand ourselves in a deeper way.

I have experience working with complex family dynamics and can truly appreciate the need for support during these changing and challenging times.  I also want to offer some guidance on finding some calm within the chaos using grounding strategies and techniques. Intergenerational trauma work is another passion of mine. I also am a parent and can appreciate the complexities and have been on my own parenting healing journey for a few years now. Parenting is not an easy journey for most and I honour everyone’s experiences without judgment.

Thank you for taking the time to find the right fit for you. The rapport between therapist and client accounts for much of the change that transpires during therapy, and my focus is on bringing a sense of safety and trust into the therapy room.
